Here three botanical kingdoms converge – the nama-karoo vegetation, knersvlakte succulents and cape fynbos on the mountains -  AND in spring Vanrhynsdorp and its surroundings bursts into a kaleidoscope of colour.  Wild flowers in bloom!

From Vanrhynsdorp you can explore the Richtersveld, Namaqua National Park and the Goegap Nature Reserve short distances from Kamieskroon and Springbok respectively. Vanrhynsdorp also being the ideal village to use as base for exploring the Olifants River Valley with its excellent wines; Lamberts Bay with its thousands of cape gannets; the Cederberg Mountains or Nieuwoudtville, the bulb capital of the world.
